2+1 Lane Road

In Sweden, some 3 000 km of the main road network consist of 13-metre roads. There is only a limited possibility of increasing safety by converting 13-metre roads into motorways. A cost-effective way of guaranteeing safer roads is to convert them into 3-lane roads with alternating two lanes in one direction and one in the other.
